This is something I think about a lot which weirdly comes from my evolutionary biology background. Social grooming. What happened?

Push the Button

This was my first piece in Vancouver and it got on Wooster Collective! Now Efter and Blivet have made it in the street art world! It was at Main and Union under the overpass, and it lasted two weeks which was a much higher life expectancy that I had anticipated.

New Videos!

A short I've been working on for a long time. I shot it in Montreal in the fall of 2010. The credits and title were shot in Barcelona. The whole thing was a bit of a learning experience of how to record sound and video and how to work with HD footage.

¡Panic!

I'd been wanting to try free hand spray painting for a long time, so when I heard about this abandoned water park near Barcelona and came up with a really simple idea at the same time, I jumped on it. Free hand is hard. I would need a lot of practice to get any good at it. Paint brushes are looking pretty good about now. I was too embarrassed to take any close up pictures but in retrospect I regret it now.

Senyoretes

I was lucky enough to know out about the best, most entertaining night of Carnival in all of Cataluyna. In a small town called Torello, 86km from Barcelona, they have a unique night of Carnival where all the guys from the surrounding area dress up as girls. It's called Senyoretes. Spanish guys love dressing up as girls, so it was good. Really good.

Wind Up Birds

Finally! Some street art! Even decided to give stencils a second chance. I did a warm up run here in Barcelona, Montreal styles (idea, cut out and spray all in the same night) with my trusty companion, Sparky. Turns out it's more important to look out for sketchy night wanderers than the police.

My most successful screen print to date. 5 layers, 3 stencils, magical gloss.
Some of the detail created by the gloss is lost in the scan. It's much more magical in hard copy.

Black Out

These are complementary photos to my White Out series for my final photo project. The scans were really bad so I had to fuck around with them a little on photoshop for them to look more like the original prints. Obviously the originals look way better.

Time Stealers

This is inspired by the children's book, Momo by Michael Ende (the author of The Never Ending Story). In the book, this town is taken over by these men in gray, entirely gray, from skin to cigar. The people of the town don't notice them but they steal all their time and turn the village people into mindless drones who don't enjoy life at all. The only person who is resistant to them is Momo and she obviously saves the day. This was a test, and it worked really well, so I'm gonna print out more of them and make really long strings of them down some streets. I was gonna screen print it but I digitally printed it as an excuse for a project for my digital print class. Digital print is such a cop out, it was so easy!

The Law of Maximum Displacement

I conducted a little photographic social experiment in the Montreal Metro. I call it the Law of Maximum Displacement. Strangers always space themselves as far away from each other as they can, neatly demonstrated by platform benches. I think it's really weird and bizzarre how predictable it is. A fun game is to look at these pictures and figure out the order in which the people sat. Comment the order you predict and let's see if 'everyone' guesses the same thing. You can't do it for all of them but some of them are strangely obvious.
