Expulsion

POST 100!!!

My most successful screen print to date. 5 layers, 3 stencils, magical gloss.
Some of the detail created by the gloss is lost in the scan. It's much more magical in hard copy.

GROW UP

Paint by numbers. 10"/10"

Friday, January 29, 2010

This is my first ever digital print with a two layer screen print on top. I'm a little disappointed by the results cuz the colours were dulled by the printer. It also looks way better live than in this picture.

Here's the original paintings that I scanned. It's so much brighter than the print, not to mention fluorecent red is the best colour ever. I collaged it from its constituent parts.

She's Come Undone

This is my newest silk screen for school. I decided to suck it up and try out ''nice'' paper but I kinda like the manilla copy better. I made a couple on ''shitty paper'' so I can wheat paste them in the spring. I'm having trouble with backgrounds lately so I made tons of copies of this piece (26) and I'm gonna experiment with them. These and some more of my stuff is actually in the VA Building Gallery at Concordia for the 50/50 Print Sale and I actually sold two copies of these today!

This is a screen print on Glass and Plexi, in wood.

This is a poster I made last semester, its loosely based on my uncle Andy who was part of a motorcycle gang/the carny community(he had a sweet side show with shrunken heads) in the U.S. screen print.

Key Disaster

This is my latest attempt at silk screening. This is actually version two. In the first version I hated my colour choices so much I cut it up into business cards. I redid the whole thing but I still kinda hate the result. Obviously I don't hate it enough not to post it, so here it is. It was actually supposed to be a triptych but I'm so frustrated with it that I give up for now. I included a couple of variations with less layers because I do really like the line drawing. The pile of keys is a photoshop masterpiece, by the way. I just need to work on how to compose it as a finished piece. I'm open to suggestions in case I'm ever crazy enough to go for attempt three (and the triptych).

Sparks Issue No. 5: Sneak Peek

This is to get the masses pumped about contributing to Sparks Zine, Issue No. 5 . I just finished printing 100 copies of this lovely, hand silk screened cover. For everyone who thought that this was a rookie operation and that contributing was lame, think again.
Submissions are due Nov. 6th.

Moving UP

My first official silk screen poster.
(I need to take a better picture.)
