Nit Picking

Efterblivet's a bit dead these days so here's a little pick me up.
A new piece up in Vancouver right now on Main street at 7th.
This is something I think about a lot which weirdly comes from my evolutionary biology background. Social grooming. What happened?
Thanks to my little team and getaway car for helping.

Push the Button

This was my first piece in Vancouver and it got on Wooster Collective! Now Efter and Blivet have made it in the street art world! It was at Main and Union under the overpass, and it lasted two weeks which was a much higher life expectancy that I had anticipated.

Argentina = Street Art Heaven

Here's a cool video on street art in Argentina! Man, it makes me want to go back there! I know a couple of the artists interviewed and the bar where I worked and painted some stencils/murals is in it a lot! Also, listening to pure Argentinian Spanish is always a pleasure.

Wind Up Birds

Finally! Some street art! Even decided to give stencils a second chance. I did a warm up run here in Barcelona, Montreal styles (idea, cut out and spray all in the same night) with my trusty companion, Sparky. Turns out it's more important to look out for sketchy night wanderers than the police.

Fishy Business

new thing in union lane

freehand!

context

Yesterday was a really sunny day so I ran away from studio for an hour or two to paint this little picture in union lane. First time ever doing some real time freehand spraying (the oil-rig). Some kiwi fella named city went into my little window frame and pushed me out into new territory. I had to go over some sexy pirate but I left her face hanging in the sky, because I guess I just have a thing for pirates. I feel like the picture I am trying to paint isn't clear enough without dollar dollar bills flying out of Mr. businessman's briefcase but I didn't have any green paint. Maybe I will go and retroactively add them bills.

Miss you friends.

Revisiting Nowhereland

The Location

monkey see no evil, monkey speak no evil

I remember a quote from Banksy saying "don't put up stencil in places where people still look up in the sky and point at airplanes". Well I put up these stencils in a small town (Samobor) in Croatia anyway, just because I had nothing better to do on Christmas Day. And jolly good fun it was. Someone has to tag up the Balkan countryside. WheelofFortune girl for size comparison

Spaceman is Back

What with everyone stressing out about exams and school all around me,
I have decided to finish that project I started last December in Berlin.
I was going to make 26 Spacemen, but I only got to 18. So here they are:

Permafrozen Heart

Results.back

After a long hiatus I finally slapped together a little stencil/drip spray paint number on a half finished window that was sitting around my place.
It felt good.front

I'm going to donate it 52 McCaul where they are having a 20$ show (from many local artists) on Friday evening. Proceeds are going to WellandGood so they can run this awesome space for what I would call non-elitist art.
Friday evening!
52 McCaul
Be there.

Gaia in the Desert

I just got back from Burning Man, and the above is what I shared with the insane weirdos that inhabit that god forsaken, sun baked, and wind ravaged piece of earth. The theme of the festival was evolution. My take on that was to mimic the evolution of poster layering as seen on our city streets. I also meant Gaia to be holding a pictorial representation of evolution in each one of her hands. Unfortunately, booze, the sun, and shiny things all worked to distract me from completing the piece. I brought it home with me though, so sometime soon it'll make another appearance in a new incarnation.

Bolivian Snow Maiden

Its been an unusually snowy winter in Vancouver and the temperatures after dark have been far bellow zero making it difficult to put up posters on most nights. I've had this poster kicking around my place since January when I was seriously contemplating joining Toby in Argentina. At the time I was also looking forward to visiting Bolivia to hopefully meet and befriend a bowler hat wearing Bolivian woman.
Last night I finally put this piece up. Its sunny now, the snow is receding and I never made it to South America.

Pritty Dyana

This sweet shit mobile belongs to my roomate at my first Buenos Aires apartment. He had it parked out side the apartment for over a year without moving it. It does not funcion in the loosest definition of the word unless pushing and rolling counts. In the last month people started complaining so he has been rolling it from spot to spot around the block. It is unclear what his intentions are for this metalic wonder. The sign on the window says ''This car has owner'' and then the address. This is what me and my stenciling friend, Robert, did to it.

It was my last night in Buenos Aires so I didn't have time to take pictures of it during the day :( But we did almost get caught by the cops once again, on my watch obviously. They did a stop and stare at us with the second officer asleep open mouthed in the front passenger seat, and then slowly drove away. Thank god for pretending to be waiting for the bus and not going to jail on my last night and not getting my camera stolen.

Self Portrait Makeover

I was going to cut out a new copy of my old stencil self portrait cuz it was looking pretty tired and close to death, possibly inspired by my little guest appearence on flickr, when I realized that I´m way better at this crap than I was two years ago. So I gave my self portrait a little makeover and then sprayed it all over my block in Buenos Aires, kinda like a dog pissing on his territory.

Exploding Head Hits the Wall

Finally after getting caught by the cops and painting it on a shitty piece of wood, my mural idea got put where it belongs, on a real dead wall. This is in Hollywood in Cambodia, this ´´street bar´´ in Buenos Aires where I´m helping out every once in a while.

Here´s some context and a chair for size. The mural to the right is by a guy named Piraña. Above are some lighter stencils by Valentina, and to the right of Piraña is Valentina and Santiago´s mural that was already posted on the blog.

Here I am before getting started.
